Artwork Policy
What you can upload and print, the rights you need for it, and what makes a file print well.
Your artwork stays yours
Everything you upload or type in the studio stays yours. You give us permission to store it, reproduce it and print it, only for making, delivering and supporting your order.
You must own it, or have permission to use it: photographs, drawings, logos, characters, names, slogans and trademarks included. Uploading it, and placing an order with it, is your confirmation that you do.
What we do not print
We do not print artwork that infringes someone else’s rights, or that is unlawful. We also do not print [to confirm: any further categories of content the business will not print (for example hateful, sexually explicit or violent material)].
We may decline or cancel an order whose design we reasonably believe falls into these, or infringes someone’s rights. If we cancel an order that has been paid for, [to confirm: what the customer receives: a full refund, or otherwise - to be decided with a lawyer].
Files that print well
The studio takes PNG, JPEG and WebP files. A transparent background stays transparent.
Each image is checked against the size you print it at. When there are fewer than 150 pixels for every inch it prints across, the studio warns that it is low quality and may print soft or pixelated, and tells you how wide it can print sharp. Use a larger file, or print it smaller. Enlarging a small file does not add detail, and we cannot fix a low-resolution file at print time.
The warning is there so you can decide with the facts in front of you. If you order an image after the studio has warned you about it, its softness is not a fault in the finished garment.
Files we need to keep
We print from the original file you uploaded, never from the preview on your screen. A design whose image file is missing cannot be printed, so the studio and your bag will not let it be ordered until the image is replaced. A missing file is a different problem from a low-quality one, and the studio names each separately.
While our image storage is being set up, images you add stay in your own browser on your device. [to confirm: the image storage service that will keep uploaded files for production (Cloudinary is prepared but not yet switched on), and confirmation that it is active before orders open].
Print size and position
Each garment has areas that can be printed, on the front and on the back. The studio only lets a design sit where it can be printed, and warns when part of a design runs over a seam. Each image or text box is printed at the size and position you set, within the printable area of the garment you ordered.
For some garments the studio shows another garment’s 3D model as a stand-in. Where it does, it says so. The print is placed on the garment you ordered, whose proportions can differ from the stand-in’s.
Colours on screen and on fabric
Colours on a screen and colours printed on fabric are never exactly the same. Bright screen colours, in particular, print a little duller, and the garment’s own colour affects how a print looks.
Text and fonts
Text is printed in the font you chose from the studio’s library, as you see it in the preview. The fonts in the library are published under open licences that allow printing.
We print the words exactly as you typed them. Please check spelling and wording before you order.
Approving your design, and what we promise
Before you order, the studio shows every image and text box on your garment, where it sits and how big it is, with its warnings. Placing the order is your approval of the design as shown. [to confirm: whether the business checks designs before printing, and whether it contacts the customer about a problem it notices].
In return, we make your order as you approved it, in the garment, colour and size you chose, to the agreed specifications and as the law requires. If what you receive is not that, see the Returns & Refunds Policy.
If you think a design is yours
If you believe a design printed or offered here uses your work without permission, tell us through Contact on WhatsApp (opens WhatsApp) or email sketchstitch190@gmail.com. [to confirm: what the business does with such a report].
